  π

Pi is the very embodiment of what artificial intelligence could create in terms of dance performances in the future.

Created at the Geneva Junior Ballet during the 2021 carte blanche season.

General appearance of pi

Pi, as an infinite irrational number, embodies immensity and chaos, while also being associated with the circle through its constant relationship to the circumference.

The dancers, programmed according to the numbers of Pi, move in interlocking circles, symbolizing the repetition and influence of systems in our lives.

Body matter

Three cycles: life, water, and hate are used to construct the choreographic material, each representing universal aspects of existence.

A robotic voice guides the dancers, highlighting the contrast between human and machine.

Costumes

The simple and identical costumes reinforce this idea of anonymity and the infinite reproduction of a dancer X.

"We are merely interchangeable materials at the whim of the choreographer," here represented by the Voice.

Chaos and Cycle

Physical and symbolic entropy is explored, illustrating the increase in disorder despite established rules.

The piece ends as it begins, suggesting a perpetual cycle of different dance performances.
